Greystone’s Vana Greischar Receives Patriot Award from the Department of Defense
Greystone Construction is proud to announce that the United States Department of Defense (DOD) bestowed the Patriot Award to Vana Greischar, our Director of People Operations. The Patriot Award recognizes supervisors for their support provided directly to the nominating Service member.
Vana was nominated by David Rodriguez who is a Staff Sergeant serving as a Paralegal NCO in the United States Army Reserve and a Talent Acquisition Specialist in the HR department at Greystone.
David’s nomination reads: “Vana is an amazing supporter of the Armed Forces. She goes above and beyond making sure I am supported here in my current role. Her servant leadership style fosters an environment where I am not negatively pressured or made to feel guilty when I must leave for my Army obligations. This could not be possible without Vana's values of inclusivity, camaraderie, and patriotism.”
Vana expressed her support, “Supporting David's participation in the Army Reserve is Greystone’s opportunity to do something good for our country. And what we do as an employer to support any Greystone team member serving in the Reserve forces adds value to our great country. David’s wealth of knowledge and his intrinsic leadership abilities that he lives out every day are an outcome of his roles in the military as well as his opportunities for professional development in the civilian world. It is a privilege to work with David and a privilege to continue to support his service contributions to our country. Thank you for all that you do, David, and for what you continue to bring to this team.”
The award presenter was Mathew Meyer, Esq. and Ombudsman Director of the Minnesota arm of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Mathew explained, “ESGR is the Department of Defense office that manages the process to identify outstanding employers that distinguish themselves by going beyond the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) to support National Guard and Reserve employees.”
During the award presentation, CEO Kevin O’Brien, emphasized and reiterated Greystone’s support for the Guard and The Reserve by signing a pledge while surrounded by Greystone leadership.
Kevin stated, “The Greystone Team is appreciative of all who step forward to serve this country in the military. We are especially thankful to our Greystone team members who are veterans or are currently serving in the military. It is our honor to support these team members. Thank you, Vana, for going above and beyond to extend support to those that serve. And thank you to all active-duty members and veterans for your sacrifice and service.”
