Fabric Horse Barns at Canterbury Park
The Canterbury Park Barn Redevelopment & Backside Improvements is a landmark investment in Minnesota’s horse racing industry. Celebrating 30 years of live racing, Canterbury Park partnered with Greystone to deliver modern equine facilities, including state-of-the-art fabric horse barns, upgraded trainer spaces, a new stable gate entrance, and improved roadways—all replacing outdated structures.
Greystone’s Fabric Building Solutions and Facility Solutions divisions showcased exceptional self-perform capabilities. In collaboration with ISG, Bolton & Menk, and the City of Shakopee, the team expertly managed SWPPP compliance, complex phasing, and utility transitions to minimize disruption during racing season. These improvements enhance functionality, comfort, and aesthetics, creating a better experience for nearly 1,000 horsepersons and 1,100 racehorses that call Canterbury home each summer.

The Greystone team was instrumental in providing cost estimating and decision-making tools in the design-build process, serving as shepherds for the design professionals, engineers, horsepersons, and horse operations in the recapitalization of the backstretch. Greystone delivered exceptional skills and service, with the kind of timeliness and open communication we've come to appreciate. We greatly appreciate the professionalism and approach to this one-of-a-kind project and look forward to probable phases to come.
